DWI Checkpoint Planned for Bossier Parish

In an effort to combat impaired driving in our area, Louisiana State Police Troop G plans to conduct a DWI checkpoint on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, from approximately 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location in Bossier Parish.

It really had me concerned, because this was not the behavior of the man who was my college roommate, and best friend for some thirty years, ongoing. He had been posting some questionable, concerning, comments to his timeline, and --- after at least four surprising, and disturbing, posts, one came up at 6:40 a.m. It said “I’m sorry.” In my life, I have worked in mental health, and community outreach for HIV/AIDS education and prevention, and I had interacted with hundreds of people--- some of whom got some really shocking test results, or had notable mental health issues. I had seen depression, suicidal ideation, terror, and fear pretty often. I had come to know the “sign offs”, and hidden meanings of certain statements people make, under duress... MORE |

![]() Shreveport, LA (March 10, 2016) –The Salvation Army of Northwest Louisiana in cooperation with Caddo and Bossier Parish Emergency Preparedness Agencies is assisting with flood relief efforts in Shreveport, Haughton and Bossier City, Louisiana. The flooding, which began with storms on Tuesday, has displaced over 3,500 families. Rain is forecast to continue in the area through Saturday. Shelters have been opened in both Shreveport and Bossier City. The Salvation Army is tasked with feeding the flood evacuees in the shelters as well as the emergency operations centers in both parishes... MORE
