NBA Cancels 2017 All-Star Game In North Carolina Over Anti-LGBT Law
Charlotte, NC -- NBA Commissioner Adam Silver held a press conference today, announcing that Charlotte, North Carolina will no longer be hosting the 2017 All-Star game due to the state’s recent passing of the anti-LGBT law HB2.
“With this new law in place, Charlotte currently does not have any anti-discrimination protection in place, something that would be vital for a large event such as the All-Star Game,” Silver told reporters. “We are giving the state of North Carolina 30 days to repeal this law or they can expect the 2017 All-Star game to be held... BREAKING: Facebook Messages in "Secret" Location May Have Harmed You
What ever they were thinking as to why I didn't answer..it really would be hard for them to understand NOW!!!! |
It has just been revealed by users, that facebook has a feature called "Filtered Messages", presumably, for the purpose of filtering unsolicited, or SPAM messages from other users.
The problem is that those "filtered" messages in many cases, contained years worth of messages concerning family emergencies, job opportunities, missed earning opportunities, and others. One victim of the SNAFU is celebrity cake designer, Cakediva®, who, tonight, found teaching requests, wedding and event cake orders, family messages, and even her long lost, real sister. Users are aflutter with agonizing tales of losses, inconveniences, damaged friendships, lost business, lost love, family crisis notifications and more. NOTE: We are awaiting a response from Facebook's representatives, on the matter. Please check back here for updates on this breaking story. |

Child Safety Seat Event Planned For Benton Pre-SchoolBenton, LA- Louisiana State Police Troop G is planning to conduct a free child passenger safety seat check-up event on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 08:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Benton Pre-School and Childcare, 183 Burt Blvd., Benton, Louisiana 71006 (Across from Bossier Court House).
It is a proven fact that car seats and booster seats save lives. These devices offer the best protection for children in the event of a crash. However, approximately 3 out of 4 child seats are not used correctly. This misuse rate can be attributed to the great variety of child seats available, the great range of children’s weights and heights, and the vast array of vehicles in today’s market. Increasingly Affluent, Educated and Diverse: African-American Consumers – the Untold Story
Nielsen recently published its award-winning report, Increasingly Affluent, Educated and Diverse: African-American Consumers – the Untold Story which explores the economic evolution of upper-income Black Americans.
The influence and growth of this community can be attributed to the surge in Black immigration from the Caribbean, Africa and some European countries. In fact, the number of foreign-born Blacks in the U.S. has quadrupled since 1980, accounting for 3.8 million of the nation’s current population. Even more intriguing is the fact that foreign-born Blacks report substantially higher incomes – about 30 percent higher – than U.S.-born Blacks. Other interesting statistics about this group include:... MORE |
New push to keep seniors in home, community-based programsCHICAGO (AP) — The federal government is pushing states to keep more low-income seniors out of nursing homes and, instead, enroll them in home and community-based programs.
The shift comes as demand for long-term care is rising. By 2050, the number of people older than 85 is expected to triple to more than 18 million. These seniors tend to have the highest disability rate and the greatest need for long-term care. The tug-of-war between rising demand and controlling costs has advocates for seniors worrying about quality of care. Medicaid is one of the largest expenses for states, and a it's a program they look to for savings when budgets are tight. Medicaid spending on long-term care for seniors rose by 4 percent, to nearly ... MORE |
REVIEW: Shreveport's Ology Jazz Sextet
By Marcinho Savant

There was, much to my joy, a jazz sextet playing on the venue’s stage. The sound system was clear, and crisp--- masterfully installed, and very professional. Everything about the festival, that I saw, was was very well done. If you haven’t attended, please make it your business to make it there, at least once.
The ensemble on the stage was called the Ology Jazz Sextet, and I was not prepared for the performance I witnessed. I’ve reviewed all kinds of performances, from Kletzmer, to Opera, and I recognize expertise pretty quickly. I hadn’t, yet, heard any real jazz music here in Shreveport since my arrival to town, and today corrected that negligence on my part. Six people on a stage. Each so laid back. So... MORE |

Anti-Racism Activist & Educator, Jane Elliot, Speaks To White Citizens On Receiving The Same Treatment As Black Citizens
"I want every white person in this room, who would be happy to be treated as this society in general treats our citizens, our black citizens. If you as a white person would be happy to receive the same treatment that our black citizens do in this society - please stand!
"You didn't understand the directions. If you white folks want to be treated the way blacks are in this society - stand! - Nobody is standing here. That says very plainly that you KNOW what's happening. You KNOW you don't want it for YOU. I want to know why YOU are so willing to accept it or to ALLOW it to happen for others?" - Jane Elliot. |

Citizens Demand to Carry Their Weapons Into GOP Convention
Secret Service: “NO!”
This doesn't even begin to factor in the possibility of an ISIS terrorist attack on the arena during the convention. Without the right to protect themselves, those at the Quicken Loans Arena will be sitting ducks," it continued. At least that’s one perspective. |
by Marcinho Savant
Staff Writer Quicken Loans Arena is home to the upcoming Republican national convention, in Cleveland, Ohio. Cleveland is ranked the city with its population of 397,106 residents, the ninth most dangerous city in America. Forbes cites a violent crime rate of 1,363 per 100,000 residents. The most popular appears on change.org. It contains the following statements:... MORE |
