Black Republicans: The RNC Gave Up on Us

Picture
www.thedailybeast.com
The RNC had pledged to make outreach to black voters a priority. But as staff dedicated to the effort quit, the committee has been slow to replace them, causing black Republicans to question their commitment to the effort.

If Republicans want to grow their support with black voters in 2016, they might want to start internally.

Over the past few months, all the D.C. members of its black outreach team quit. And the committee only... MORE

Racist Michelle Obama Cartoon Is Just Another Example of Conservatives’ Blatant Hypocrisy

Michelle Obama has been plagued by racist depictions since before her husband won the White House and throughout his presidency. There was the infamous cover of the New Yorker picturing the first lady as an Afro-haired, machine gun-toting militant in combat boots giving her husband a fist bump, also known as a “terrorist fist jab.”

Fuera de Serie, a Spanish magazine, superimposed an image of Michelle Obama onto a popular 1800 French painting of an enslaved woman with her right breast exposed...MORE

Police: Actor Wendell Pierce upset by politics, hits woman

Picture
en.wikipedia.org
ATLANTA (AP) - A discussion about politics upset actor Wendell Pierce so much that he followed a group of people to their hotel room, tried to force his way inside, hit a woman in the head and ripped the hood off of her hoodie, she told Atlanta police in a report released Monday.

Pierce gave police a different version of the early morning fracas at the Loews Atlanta Hotel early Saturday morning.

Pierce acknowledged following the group to their room after the ... MORE

Photo controversy highlights black women in Long Gray Line

Self-expression is hardly a part of life for cadets at the United States Military Academy.

So it was far from ordinary when 16 black women put their own spin on the traditional graduation photo, hoisting their fists in the air while posing in their dress uniforms, swords at their sides.

A social media firestorm followed. So did an internal inquiry at the school.

Some viewed the cadets' pose as a gesture of racial solidarity and strength. Others questioned whether it was... MORE

Racial disparities in breast cancer

By Jovita Oruwari MD FACS

Cancer affects more than half a million Americans and is the second leading cause of death in the United States, exceeded only by heart disease.

After that her life crumbled learning her son, 18-year-old son Michael Brown, had been shot and killed by a police officer. COMMENTARY: How to go Asian
Why do black people often resist alternative medicine? Even when it works.

Picture
We are off the plantation. There is a universe of information, research, anecdotal evidence, and empirical proof that Chinese Medicine has benefits, yet most of us immediately wince, “I ain’t doin’ that!”--- instead of considering the evidence, and blazing personal proofs, and investigations. Why do we choose to be stuck on “Lock” when it comes to something new?

Afrikans, and Original (Native) Americans also have medicinal practices which pre-date Western medicine by centuries. Yet we reject anything we don’t understand, immediately. Don’t we?

According to Wikipedia, “Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM; simplified Chinese: 中医; traditional Chinese: 中醫; pinyin: Zhōngyī) is a style of traditional Asian medicine informed by modern medicine but built on a foundation of more than 2,500 years of Chinese medical practice that includes various forms of herbal medicine, acupuncture, massage (tui na), exercise (qigong), and...    MORE

Racism Litmus Test: Caught on Video

Anti-Racism Activist & Educator, Jane Elliot, Speaks To White Citizens On Receiving The Same Treatment As Black Citizens

"I want every white person in this room, who would be happy to be treated as this society in general treats our citizens, our black citizens. If you as a white person would be happy to receive the same treatment that our black citizens do in this society - please stand!

"You didn't understand the directions. If you white folks want to be treated the way blacks are in this society - stand! - Nobody is standing here. That says very plainly that you KNOW what's happening. You KNOW you don't want it for YOU. I want to know why YOU are so willing to accept it or to ALLOW it to happen for others?" - Jane Elliot.
