![]() by Marcinho Savant, Staff Writer Nothing. It is as if absolutely nothing will stick to Hillary Clinton. Not e-Mails. Not Benghazi. Not a single one, of the more than twenty, arguable, scandals attributed to the former Secretary of State, First Lady, and defeated candidate for the Presidency, against President Barack Hussein Obama--- have any adhesive properties. How is this achievable? According to “The Largest Christian Website in the World”, World Net Daily, a Christian-focused online publication, there are in excess of twenty scandals which have plagued the secretary, or the former first couple, over the years. They span the range from Bill’s alleged rape, and infidelity, transgressions, Clinton Foundation irregularities; reportedly “looting”, and “damaging the White House at the conclusion of ‘their’ term in office. Her aide’s (Huma Abedin) alleged Muslim Brotherhood affiliations, to Clinton-kept GOP “most-wanted” lists of unfriendlies. In recent months, there have been the, public, unpresidential, verbal spats with members of #BlackLivesMatter, and a young environmental activist. “I am so sick of the Sanders campaign lying about me. I’m sick of it,” she barked at the woman who dared ask about campaign funds coming from environmentally dubious companies. Full-throated, snappish, defensive, irritated soundbites which have all but disappeared from focus. Barry and Michelle share an affectionate “fist-bump”, and it was first, and biggest “scandal of their earliest days. Many people maintain an healthy cynicism about politics. Based on tangible examples through history (read: Nixon, Watergate, Iran Contra, et cetera), with good reason. Even accepting that there are scandalous “doins” in politics--- that sometimes get caught, and exposed, how can the American people be expected to give a pass to the esteemed Secretary, when, while her hands appear to be clean, she could be thought of as seen to be standing in the puddle of blood. Unstained. While we seem to be over- (under) whelmed with a dolefully lacking parade of hardly-suitable buffoons who have pursued the road to the White House, this presidential season--- Are we truly handcuffed to the lesser of two evils? It appears to be exactly that. We have a choice between two, barely-there, RNC candidates--- fundamentally on delegate-starved life support. A brassy, tacky, instigator with deep pockets. An elderly socialist (no disrespect intended). One could argue that none are America’s finest. My Great-Aunt is well known for having declared that “The cream always rises to the top!” The cream. The top of the heap. Is this sack of embittered, stained, unctuous “candidates”, many of whom have glaringly questionable morals and ethics--- truly the cream of the crop? God help us if they are. Suppose that Hillary Clinton is, truly, the best hope for the democratic party platform. Apart from the fact that many voters feel that the time for a female president has come. Bearing in mind that the candidate has already achieved the experience of proximity, and exposure, during her eight years in the people’s house. Do voters, and the press, have no obligation to fully vet, and question the “questionables” of a candidate, to the fullest? No one could genuinely assert that former Secretary Clinton, in all her roles in public life so far, has not done many important things which helped the people, the country, and other parts of the world. The question remains, however: is that enough to turn a blind eye to the elephants in the room, remaining mum about the giant pachyderms, as if they are invisible? Is that a risk that America should be eager to take, unexplored? Should we settle for “not as bad as...”, rather than, “perfect for the job”? The people must decide this for themselves. They must also accept the qualifications of their action, or lack thereof.
This publication has endorsed candidate Clinton, I’m certain, with great forethought, ethical evaluation, integrity, and sense of gravitas. Without prejudice, I am confident that their endorsement was carefully given. Isn’t it funny? Many of us have experienced the knowledge of people in our lives, who never, ever, seem to get their just desserts, for the things they do. While others are persecuted, and prosecuted, to the fullest extend of the law--- often though innocent of any wrongdoing. In this case, they stand to be given the nuclear codes, and the keys to the White House. Funny. Scary. Let the coming year flesh out all that needs to be exposed, in the best interests of the country. In the film, the devil may, well, have worn Prada. The Secretary, indisputably, seems to wear “nada”. None of her sticky wickets seem to cling to her. They get mentioned, blown up, and then fade into the mist. Is that good enough for you? Is that good enough for our nation? It had better be. Her win is not guaranteed. Her competition, and opponent, are too close for comfort. The country can hardly risk getting this wrong. God bless America.
